Our mission is to increase the number of women in the UK (& beyond) involved in tech industries such as: web, mobile, programming, design, UX & UI. We especially want to inspire women to start businesses, get better jobs, increase their skills & not feel isolated!
|It’s International Women’s Day|

Observed since the early 1900’s IWD exists to highlight gender and inequality issues women around the world face today. Currently women perform 66% of the world’s work and produce 50% of the food, but earn only 10% of the world’s income and own only 1% of the property (Source: UN Women).
The first International Women’s Day events were held in March 1911. Over 30,000 people came together for meetings, events and demonstrations as well as talk about the need for women to have basic rights afforded to them – the right to vote, the right to work, the right to speak out in public and the right to earn an equal wage. For Web Heroines IWD represents a chance to connect with other organisations assisting women in reaching their full potential. IWD also celebrates the work women are doing in combating abuse, empowering women to become leaders and have an equal footing.
Our new initiative, Wings, a series of workshops and events aimed at equipping women with relevant design/tech skills and knowledge is in the throes of development. Wings will reach out to the most disadvantaged women, those who’ve had a tough start in life or are getting their lives back on track. We’re excited about this new project as it brings women together to share skills and knowledge and make a positive difference to lives in the UK and beyond.
